Speaker: Annie Douma
How do you feel about your TED Talk being picked for FHC Inspires?
“I am honored and excited that I have been given the opportunity to share my TED Talk at FHC Inspires.”
What is a quick description of your TED Talk?
“My TED Talk is about how we go about our weeks. Oftentimes, people, including myself, wish it was the weekend, creating what I refer to as a ‘weekly mountain.’ I explain how this affects our lives and what we can do to stop the monotonous mountain.”
Does public speaking make you nervous? How has this project improved your skills?
“Public speaking definitely makes me nervous. Although I still get stressed, this project has helped me become more comfortable with public speaking.”
Who are you giving this TED Talk for and why?
“I am giving this TED Talk to everyone who has found themselves in a similar situation. My topic identifies a common mindset but also conveys a solution. Hopefully, this will motivate audience members to rethink their perspectives.”
What do you hope people will take away from your Talk?
“I hope people will take away a new outlook on their weeks so they can enjoy more of their lives.”
Who’s TED Talk are you excited to hear live?
“I am looking forward to hearing Abby Cummings’ TED Talk live. She is a talented public speaker, and her topic is eye-opening.”
If your presentation was a color what would it be and why?
“My presentation would be the colors blue or green. The main focus of my TED Talk is a metaphorical weekly mountain, and when I picture a mountain, I imagine it being blue or green.”
How does the layout of your Google Slides portray your personality and the topic of your Talk?
“My Google Slides portray my personality because they include pictures of myself with family. These photos are a glimpse into who I am. The slide of the ‘weekly mountain’ represents my topic. It places a photo to the comparison, allowing the audience to visualize what I am talking about.”
