Student Council Q&As: Maurielle Hayes
Name: Maurielle Hayes
1. What position are you running for?
“I am running for Executive Board Vice President.”
2. Why did you decide to run?
“I decided to run because I have participated in the Student Council for two years now. I have always found it fun and interesting because I get to interact with new people, and I get to help make our school a more exciting and organized place.”
3. What are the main promises of your campaign?
“I promise to help gain participation from every grade. I also promise to welcome the freshmen and help them feel more comfortable in our school, and I promise to do everything to listen to our student body’s desires for events and ideas.”
4. What are a few things you’ve learned from this experience?
“From working for Student Council, and running for the past couple of years, I have learned better social skills. That was a huge thing for me because previously, I have struggled with talking to new people and working together with people I am not familiar with. In Student Council, we do a lot of collaborative work, so it builds social skills a tremendous amount. I have also learned that participation is fun. I would truly recommend participating in assemblies, school games, or helping out around the school. It is really fun and Student Council has been a good way for me to participate.”
5. What are you most excited to be a part of organizing?
“I am most excited about Homecoming week next year. This year, we did not get to do the Homecoming parade, assemblies, or gatherings. I really missed that aspect of school spirit and cannot wait to organize that next year.”
6. Why should your class vote for you?
“People should vote for me because I have been in Student Council for two years now, so I have experience. I also love talking to people and will do an amazing job of uniting the grades together for school spirit and service activities. I truly am very eager to make next year the best year for all students.”
