Student Council Q&As: Emalea Rooke

Name: Emalea Rooke

Class: 2024

1.What position are you running for?

“I am running for Secretary.”

2.Why did you decide to run?

“I decided to run because I love being involved in Student Council. I really enjoyed being able to participate and input my thoughts in different events throughout the year, and I loved being able to make new relationships with my fellow officers. I chose Secretary because I love social media and being able to talk to anyone and everyone. Being helpful is a huge positive for me, and I also like to be thorough and informative whenever people need it. Seeing as the job of the class Secretary is to do just that—share information thoroughly, answer questions online, and help connect our class through social media—I knew this position would be perfect for me.”

3.What are the main promises of your campaign?

“I promise to put as much of my effort and time as possible into Student Council. This way, instead of just having the title of Secretary, I would be earning it. I want to be able to make a successful year out of the 2021-2022 school year, and I believe that in order to do that, I need to be all in. Additionally, I want to create an engaging social media environment for our class. On top of providing informative posts, I want to run a positive platform to represent our class online. Some of my plans as Secretary are to make a weekly inspiration, to help encourage and inspire all Rangers with a quote and simple challenge, as well as doing a “student of the month” feature, where all of our classmates can vote on a fellow student that deserves some recognition for positive attitude or good deeds! This way, all sophomore Rangers can enjoy connecting together and supporting each other.”

4.What are a few things you’ve learned from this experience?

“Student Council has taught me proper sportsmanship and responsibility, and I will forever be grateful for that. COVID-19 has given me the opportunity to make new friends and explore new relationships with my peers, and it has also taught me how much we need the support and love of each other.”

5.What are you most excited to be a part of organizing?

“I am most excited to be a part of organizing dances, fundraisers, and of course, our class social media platform. I’m looking forward to being able to help connect the Student Council with the rest of the student body, as well as pitch in ideas to make sure everyone has fun and feels represented!”

6.Why should your class vote for you?

“The class of 2024 should vote for me because I am responsible, thorough, thoughtful, and friendly. If you know me personally, you may have found that I am quiet in class. However, outside of class, I love being social and meeting new people. In regards to social media, formatting, and being informative in a way that is visually appealing is something I’m very good at. In a more general aspect, I am creative and will be able to pitch new, unique ideas to Student Council.”
