Improv Central 2022 Q&As: Sully Lower

Grade: 10

What excites you most about Improv Central?

“[I’m excited to] really be able to connect with a small group of people and just build my social skills a lot better. A big part of it is just being able to get up and perform in front of a bunch of people.”

Why should people watch Improv Central?

“Well, I think it’s just a really good thing to do. If you have time, of course, you can come. You should come because it’s really good, [and] it’s a really fun time because you can just like the audience. You’re not just watching it as if it were a play, it’s like you’re actually able to interact with the Improv Team, and it’s really fun.”

On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the extreme), how nervous are you about the show and why?

“A six or a seven, because I’ve never done something like this before. This is my first year doing theatre, so it’s really new to me, so I’m sure I’ll do great. And the whole team, we have each other’s backs, I think it’ll go really well.”

What’s your favorite memory of being on the team?

“We had a trip to Chicago over the summer. That was really fun, and it was really great being able to hang out with my whole team. It was really fun. We walked around Chicago and laughed a lot.”

What is a song that reminds you of the Improv Team?

“1812 Overture.”

If you could only live in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?

“Honestly, after the Chicago trip, probably Chicago or Grand Rapids, like in a big, tall apartment building. That’d be awesome.”

What’s an improv game you enjoy?

“I really enjoy the slideshow game, which is where a bunch of the team is [putting] on this big performance, but they’re like stop-motion pretty much. So, two people will present the slideshow, and they will say what’s going on and l be just the most random image of people just in random positions. It’s really fun. I really like presenting. I did that last practice, and that was really fun because there are a lot of talking points to make from it.”
