I love makeup and skincare and am obsessed with having healthy and mostly clear skin. However, a few too many times, I’ve neglected to wear sunscreen daily and end up with not only a sunburnt face but also damaged skin as I spend hours in the sun.
Only recently, I realized the importance of wearing makeup and skincare that protects against sun damage and contains SPF, or is hydrating and won’t dry out your skin, which can make sunburns worse. Here is my tried and true list of makeup products for the summer season that will leave your skin glowing and protected from the sun.
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint (SPF 40)
One of my favorite skin tints, the ILIA skin tint, not only has a high SPF level of 40 but is a great makeup product on its own. This skin tint is lightweight and radiant while providing mild coverage, becoming an ideal summer alternative to heavier and thicker foundations.
With swimming, tanning, or summer sports, foundations can often feel like “too much” and oftentimes will wear off in the pool, while a thin skin tint can be applied before or after hot summer days and will keep your skin looking smooth and even.
The ILIA skin tint is a great option for summer, and the SPF level is another way to protect your skin barrier from Ultraviolet (UV) rays that cause sunburns.
Tatcha The Kissu Lip Tint (SPF 25)
A lip sunburn stings. It can cause swollen and puffy lips, or just overall redness and irritation. Oftentimes, I neglect to wear sunscreen chapstick or lip products with SPF in them because they taste chemical-filled, or I simply forget to protect my lips in the summer sun.
The Tatcha Lip Tint is an ideal product for preventing lip sunburn whilst coloring your lips a little. The sunscreen taste is nowhere to be found, and this Tatcha lip treatment is a perfect option for the summer weather.
Supergoop The Matte Prime & Reapply Set (SPF 35-40)
The importance of sunscreen in the summer is often stressed, and while spray and lotion sunscreens can help protect your body, oftentimes those same sunscreen formulas don’t work with makeup or on your face.
I absolutely love and recommend the Supergoop makeup and sunscreen products that provide both a primer and a setting powder to add a touch of SPF to your makeup. Both the Supergoop Glowscreen (slightly tinted) and regular sunscreen primer have a unique consistency that primes your face for makeup and helps your makeup last longer.
Meanwhile, their SPF powder that comes in the form of a brush can help set and hold makeup in place while also adding an extra layer of SPF on top of your face.
I will always recommend this Supergoop duo for the summer time, or for any time of year.
Summer weather is finally on its way, and it can be easy to overlook the importance of SPF and sunscreen for your face, which is why these makeup products are gorgeous and well-timed for the sunshine to come. Each of these products helps provide protection against the sun with varying amounts of SPF while also making sure your skin feels radiant this summer.
