The fall season is finally here. For many people, including myself, it is the best time of the year. The aesthetic is warm and cozy, the weather is perfect, and Friday Night Lights makes every week go by faster. There are so many movies out there for all of the different holidays and seasons, but only a few of them are perfect for fall. After the drive home from school, the rearview mirror shows the leaves turning colors and the sun peaking from behind the clouds. This is the perfect atmosphere to sit down and have a nice fall movie marathon.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
This movie is the perfect fall season rom-com. It takes place in the fall, and it has that cozy feel to it. The main character, Lara Jean (Lana Condor), falls for the jock of the movie, and it is easy to guess the rest from there. If I ever get home from school on a day when I have no homework but want to stay in, I immediately turn this movie on. Of course, the original is the best, but the sequels are also fun to watch.
Twilight
I don’t even think I have to say much for this one. Twilight movies are the fall movies. They’re about a girl, Bella (Kristen Stewart), who falls in love with a vampire and goes on different journeys throughout each movie. The rainy aesthetic that they have, along with the overall nostalgia they bring, just makes for a perfect movie marathon in this spooky season. The music and mood that the movie sets up just scream fall time.
Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is a classic movie for the fall. It brings the perfect mix of nostalgia, spookiness, and seasonal charm. The film follows three witches who wreak havoc on Halloween night. With its autumn visuals and cozy vibes, it is the perfect movie to put on when the leaves start turning.
Coraline
Coraline has always been a favorite in my family. Its eerie aesthetic is perfect for fall time, especially in October. This movie is about a young girl who steps into and explores another world other than hers. It is pretty much made for sweater weather, and it’s the perfect watch for a cool autumn night.
Goosebumps
This movie is an oldie but a goodie. The movie is about bringing fictional monsters to life and the adventures that come with that for the characters. It is based in a small town during autumn, which speaks for itself. It is a gateway into the Halloween/late fall season, bringing a mix of charm and nostalgia.
Little Women
This film captures the warmth and wistfulness of fall like no other. The movie is full of things like cracking fires, vintage styles, and New England autumn scenery. Romance has a place in this movie, and who does not want a movie with a bit of romance in it? The whole setting of the movie creates a fall feel, whether you are watching it for that reason or for the heartfelt story it tells.
There are many, many movies out there that are perfect to watch in the fall weather. Autumn-based movies, scary movies, Halloween-based movies, etc. Fall presents so many options to explore different movie genres, and Coraline, Hocus Pocus, Twilight, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Goosebumps, and Little Women are the perfect fall movies. They all have different but autumn-like aesthetics, and make for a great night in.
