As a high school student, it is not uncommon to see teenage girls sipping on a Diet Coke first thing in the morning, alongside no breakfast.
At first, I overlooked this, as I find myself drinking unhealthy drinks—energy drinks, for example—without eating anything beforehand. But almost every time I do this, I find myself feeling weak and unproductive.
Incorporating breakfast is a good idea. However, for many, it can be difficult to consume these nutrients before the day begins, before drinking an energy drink or, for some, a soda. In July 2025, Bloom Nutrition launched a prebiotic soda, known as Bloom Pop, designed to provide healthier nutrients and better-quality ingredients than in a regular soda. These prebiotic sodas replace the typical “not-so-healthy” morning soda many people reach for to start their day.
Bloom’s prebiotic sodas provide a healthier alternative to the regular soda types, like Coke or Sprite, incorporating beneficial nutrients to support gut health by feeding good bacteria. The soda also includes all-natural flavors, along with xylooligosaccharides, non-digestible plant fibers that help feed the healthy bacteria in your gut.
The line of probiotic sodas includes a great variety of different flavors for only having been released a few months ago, with the six flavors: Classic Orange, Strawberry Cream, Raspberry Lemonade, Watermelon Lime, and Shirley Temple. Out of the six, I decided to try the three most different flavors from one another to get a wide variety as to what the prebiotic sodas are truly like.
Strawberry Cream
At first glance, my only thought about the Strawberry Cream flavor was, “This must be disgusting.” Since out of all six flavors, this one is the least likely for me to enjoy, I decided to give it a try. And to my surprise, this flavor rose to the top of my list. With regular sodas, or any flavored drinks in general, it’s difficult to match the taste of the drink with the intended flavor, and in some cases, it turns out to be completely different. However, for the strawberry cream, I found the flavors not to be too overpowering. Also, Bloom nailed the strawberry flavor. The fruity flavor was perfectly balanced with the cream addition. Overall, this drink was delicious, and I will definitely be repurchasing it.
Raspberry Lemonade
The raspberry lemonade flavor was good but not outstanding. In the past, I’ve drank somewhere around twenty of the raspberry lemon energy drinks made by Bloom, and this flavor tasted like a much simpler version of it. For those who look for a soda to drink in the morning with no overwhelming flavors, this drink is perfect.
Watermelon Lime
Compared to how delicious the other two flavors were, I was shocked by how this flavor tasted. My opinion may be slightly different than others, since I am not a fan of watermelon flavor. However, this soda was over the top. There was no watermelon flavor, rather a tangy, lime-tasting hint to the overpowering acidic taste. On a hot summer day, this drink would be more tolerable, but daily, I definitely would not find myself choosing this flavor over the others.
Overall, these prebiotic sodas are the perfect replacement for ordinary sodas, as the flavors are not only delicious, but also help feed my gut. I haven’t sampled the other flavors yet, but I’m looking forward to trying the rest in the near future.
