Varsity soccer loses a tough fought battle to rival FHN

In a very gritty game against rival Forest Hills Northern Tuesday night, the Rangers fell to the Huskies 1-0. The Rangers maintained possession of the ball for most of the first half, getting plenty of shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. Forest Hills Northern’s offense was unable to get anything going for them, whether it was turning the ball over or shots saved by Ranger goalkeeper Jared Ireland. Players who stood out were seniors Eric Conerty and Tristan Kerr, who were doing whatever they could to get this Ranger team rolling.

Midway through the second half, the Huskies caught a break as the Rangers were lined up for a corner kick, as it was deflected away and the Northern defender saw nothing but green grass ahead of them. One touch led to another, and before he knew it Jared was left out on an island. Northern capitalizes as they take the lead 1-0. As the game went on, nothing went the Rangers way as the final score ended as 1-0. They look to bounce back as they play Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills Thursday, September 7th.
