Player Profile – Jasmine Dawson

Name: Jasmine Dawson

Grade: 10th

Sport: Volleyball

Position: Right side hitter

How would you describe your recent success?

“I would describe my recent success as a player on the JV team as learning and playing all positions around the court and not just my position as a hitter in practice and sometimes even in games. As a team I think we all have really gotten better at running a lot of different plays than last year and we are able to mix things up without fearing the change.”

What’s your reason for playing Volleyball?

“Volleyball is my passion. I love coming to practice even though it feels very long some days, we do a lot of things to get us ready for the season and to improve playing as a team. Sometimes I’m in a super good mood and that helps the team because we all have a lot of energy. Some days I’m tired or just in a mood and I’m able to relieve the stress by putting it all out on the court.”

Who has been your biggest inspiration in your entire athletic career?

“My biggest inspiration when I was younger was always my dad because he pushed me to be a better athlete, and it really did work. As I have grown up my dad still does push me a lot, but I also look up to the varsity players because they show me how much better I can be with a little more practice.”

What are your upcoming plans with Volleyball?

“In Volleyball our season games have not officially started, but we have some tournaments in the upcoming weekends that we are excited for. I think we are all just ready for play our conference matches.”

When did you start playing Volleyball?

“I started playing volleyball in 6th grade.”

How long have you been playing Volleyball for FHC?

I have been playing volleyball with the FHC crew for 2 years now.”

“It is better to work hard in practice because the way my team and I play in practice is how we are going to play in a game, and we want to work hard and play hard all the time”
