JV Tennis teams struggles at the Rockford Invitational, but gets a big win against Northview

The JV tennis team had a couple of big matches this weekend at the Rockford Invitational. The teams in the tournament were FHC, Rockford, East Grand Rapids, Portage Northern, FHN, Hudsonville, Ottawa hills, and Grandville. The team had a tough day only coming out with only 2 wins in the tournament. There were six flights in the tournament and the flights that won for the Rangers were 2 and 3 doubles. Playing 2 doubles for FHC was Hans Siebert and Owen Thamban. They beat Portage Northern 6-1,6-1, having a pretty quick and easy win in the tournament. The 3 doubles for JV was Shane Hubble and Aidan O’meara. They also won against Portage Northern 6-2, 6-4. The Rangers had a tough time at the Rockford invitational, but bounced back with a big win against Northview on Monday.

Yesterday the JV team had a home dual against the Northview wildcats. The team as a whole won five out of the seven matches that were counted towards the dual. The matches were played using eight game pro sets instead of two out of three sets. The winning flights were 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. At 1 doubles Alex Lowell and Nick Stockenauer took a victory 8-3. At 2 doubles Hans Siebert and Owen Thamban also won, this time with a shut out, 8-0. At 3 doubles Aidan O’meara and Ben Koning won 8-4. The 5 doubles team which was Eli Romijn and Sam Cooper had a big win, winning 8-2. Then the final flight for the rangers that won was the 6 doubles team which consisted of Shane Hubble and Jordan Blum and they won 8-2. The first time coaches are starting to get ahold of the team with a big win against Northview.
