Freshman Volleyball gets another big win, defeats Cedar Springs 2-0

Passing and serving were key parts to the Lady Ranger’s big-time win over Cedar Springs Tuesday night. Cora Kelly was a huge contributor and one of the main reasons the Rangers defeated the Red Hawks with her outstanding kills. The Rangers won the first game 25-8 in a blowout, but were later challenged more than they were used to winning by only 8, which is more points they let up than usual.

The first game was phenomenal, as it looked a lot like how the Rangers blasted the Greenville Yellow Jackets last Thursday. The Lady Rangers had some great serving, which got them a lot of early points and got the confidence rolling from the get-go. The Red Hawks of Cedar Springs had absolutely no answer as the Rangers got a big-time first win of the set 25-8. The second game had some good serving, but what really stood out was the serve receives, or passing. Cedar Springs caught up to cut the lead, but the teamwork of the Rangers was too much for the Red Hawks to handle, as the Rangers grabbed the win 25-17, and the win 2-0.

This puts the Rangers at 3-1 in their conference. Their wins came from Northview, Greenville, and recently Cedar Springs, and their only loss is to arch-rival FHN. The Rangers will square off against the Lowell Red Arrows at Lowell in what will certainly be one of the most anticipated games on the Rangers’ calendar. The goal for the rest of the season is to talk more and be more energetic.
