College Football Week 4 Recap by Sports Report Staff

This week in College Football there were lots of games that were really hyped up, but only one game lived up to its expectations. On the last play of the game in Des Moines, Iowa with 4 seconds to go, Penn State finds Juwan Johnson in the endzone and silences the rowdy Hawkeye crowd. Other highlights from this week include Stanford scoring 58 on UCLA, Michigan emerging late to beat Purdue on the road and Notre Dame blasting Michigan State, in what was supposed to be an interesting game, knowing those two teams’ history.

Staff Standings

  1. Jessica: 5-10

T2. Jake: 3-12

T2. Tommy: 3-12

  1. Nick: 2-13
  2. Tobey: 1-14

Jessica takes a commanding first place lead while Tommy jumps up to tie Jake for 2nd. Tough outing for Jake…

Games this Week:

USC vs Washington State: You guessed it, it’s back! Friday night lights! The USC Trojans will face off under the lights against a very dangerous Washington State Cougars team. Both teams are 4 – 0 as the season stands right now. The slight edge will go to the Trojans because of their prolific passing attack. Sitting at the head of this offense is Sam Darnold. He will be the reason the Trojans take down the Cougars away from home.

Predictions:

Nick- USC

Jacob- USC

Tobey- USC

Jessie- USC

Tommy-USC

Mississippi State vs Auburn: This showdown against the Bulldogs and the Tigers should be another great SEC showdown. Mississippi State suffered a blowout to #13 Georgia 3-31, so they need to bring the same intensity they brought against LSU, when they won 37-7. Auburn on the other hand is #13 in the country now and looks to keep winning in search of an SEC title. They are 3rd in the SEC and behind very good competition in Alabama and Georgia. This would be a big win for both teams, as they are both in search for an SEC title.

Predictions:

Tommy- Auburn

Nick- Auburn

Tobey- Auburn

Jessica- Auburn

Jake- Auburn

Clemson vs Virginia Tech: This game is a battle of two top fifteen undefeated teams and everyone should expect this to be the best game of this weekend. #2 clemson has been looking like the best team in the country lately with the duo of quarterback Kelly Bryant and running back Travis Etienne. Virginia Tech is coming into this game hot and are looking to end Clemson’s streak. Quarterback Josh Jackson is getting it done passing and on the ground. Look for this to be a classic high scoring ACC game.

Predictions:

Tobey- Clemson

Jake- Clemson

Nick – VT

Tommy- Clemson

Jessica – Clemson

Ole Miss vs Alabama: This is a big time SEC matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Rebels. In this night game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama is favored by four touchdowns and shows no signs of slowing down. Jalen Hurts leads Alabama in both passing and rushing and is looking to make a big statement to build his case for Heisman. Ole Miss had a tough loss last week losing to Vanderbilt, and their run defense is not strong at all, which is very good news for the Tide. I think the passing and running of Alabama will be too much for the Rebels to take and their defense will get very tired and not be able to keep up.

Predictions:

Jake- Alabama

Tobey- Alabama

Nick- Bama

Tommy- Bama

Jessie-Alabama

Georgia vs Tennessee

This Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers are matching up to play in an SEC conference game. Currently, Georgia is ranked 13th nationally in rushing yards per game, so the Bulldogs plan is to run the ball offensively and are relying on Todd Gurley get the job done. On defense, Georgia needs to take away the deep passes from Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, Worley mainly throws short passes. In previous games, Tennessee’s defense has been off to a slow start and to win this game they need to take full advantage of the opportunities they receive. Mainly, the Volunteers need to stop the Bulldogs from running the ball. At this point in the season Georgia is the most well-rounded team and Tennessee will need to be aggressive to come out with a win.

Predictions:

Nick-Georgia

Tobey-Georgia

Jake-Georgia

Jessica-Georgia
