Michigan Basketball:

After coming off of a pretty decent season, Michigan is losing arguably two of their better players that they have had in the 2000’s. Those players are DJ Wilson and Derrick Walton, they were a huge part of last years team, but no need to fear as Michigan has two transfers coming in: Jaaron Simmons and Charles Matthews. Simmons averaged 15.9 points and 6.5 assists per game and received first team all Mac honors last season for Ohio University. Matthews is a highly rated 4 star who transferred from the powerhouse of Kentucky. Look for this season to be on the backs of big man Moritz Wagner and Charles Matthews.

Probable Starters:

PG Jaaron Simmons

SG Muhammad Ali Abdur Rahkman

SF Jordan Poole

F Charles Matthews

C Moritz Wagner

Notable Games for Wolverines:

-North Carolina (Nov. 29)

– Ohio State (Dec. 4)

– UCLA (Dec. 9)

– Michigan State (Jan. 13)

– Ohio State (Feb. 18)

Ohio State Basketball

Thad Matta has been released as the Ohio State head coach. He finished with an overall record of 439 – 154 and led Ohio State too many Big Ten Championships along with a run to the national championship. After all of his accomplishments, the Thad Matta era has ended and a new era has begun. The Chris Holtmann era has begun at the university. Holtmann coached at Butler and was very impressive there. His success will translate to Ohio State.

Probable Starters:

Kam Williams (PG), Andre Wesson (SG), Keita Bates Diop (SF), Jae’sean Tate (PF), Micah Potter (C)

Notable Games

  • Gonzaga (Nov 24)
  • Clemson (Nov 29)
  • UNC (Dec 23)
  • MSU (Jan 7)

Michigan State: The Spartans came off a difficult season filled with injuries. Ben Carter and Gavin Schilling did not play one game for the Spartans’ last year. Their record last year was 20-15 which is pretty mediocre for the Spartans. They are looking to take back the Big Ten this year and make a statement. They are starting this season ranked 2nd in the coaches poll only behind the Duke Blue Devils.

Probable Starters:

PG: Cassius Winston

SG: Josh Langford

SF: Miles Bridges
PF: Nick Ward
C: Jaren Jackson Jr.

Notable Games for the Spartans:

  • Michigan State Vs. Duke on 12/14/17
  • Michigan State Vs. Notre Dame on 12/30/17
  • Michigan State Vs. Michigan on 1/13/18
  • Michigan State Vs. Purdue on 2/10/18
  • Michigan State Vs. Minnesota on 2/13/18
