JV boys basketball falls short to East Kentwood 45-29

On Thursday night, the JV boys basketball team took on East Kentwood in their season-opener. Sadly, FHC lost in the away game by a total of 16 points, with a final score of 45-29. However, the Rangers kept up their game play and did some great things in the game. Sophomore Trevor Lewis, played both great offense and defense in the game to help the team stay with the game. Freshman Jacob Ervin also had some very important plays made in the game; he rebounded well and put the ball back up to put some more points on the scoreboard.

Going into the game, the Rangers expected it to be intense and competitive and their expectations were met. There was a very interested crowd; they watched the game closely and got into the gameplay. The JV boys basketball team was winning at the half 21-19, then East Kentwood pulled ahead which won the game for the Falcons. East Kentwood had very agile players and FHC has some work to do, as they’ll be playing teams just as good as EK throughout the remainder of the season.

The Rangers have some work to do in order to take on their future opponents, but they do have a talented offense and defense. They just have to put in a little more to keep up with the other teams in the conference. FHC will take on the Trojans of Traverse City Central on Saturday. They hope to win the next game and learn from this first loss.
