Boys varsity hockey falls to Cleveland St. Ignatius 4-1

Senior Charlie Brewer and sophomore Ryan Jeffreys helped the Ranger Varsity Hockey team out, even though the team lost 4-1 to a very good St. Ignatius team Saturday night at Patterson Ice Center. Charlie played very hard and intense, while Ryan had the only Ranger goal of the night. The Rangers will square off against Reeths-Puffer next Saturday at 3pm, and it will be played at Patterson Ice Center.

The first period of the game went well for the Rangers. They came out with a lot of energy and it helped the overall quality of play, only falling 1-0 in the first period to maybe the best team they will face this season. The second period was a bit of a struggle for the Rangers. Many missed assignment on the defensive end led to a couple goals by St. Ignatius, as the reigning champions from Ohio began to pull away. The third period was another well-played period by the Rangers. It was a great overall period both offensively and defensively.

This loss puts the Rangers at a rough 0-7, as they are still seeking that first taste of victory. But they have an opportunity to get it this Saturday against Reeths Puffer, where they look to begin their run to try and get back on top of the OK White Conference. The Rangers will also begin Conference play starting that Saturday.
