Boys varsity hockey falls short to rival FHNE 4-3

FHC has shown a lot of improvement in their last few games. Unfortunately, the Rangers fell to their rival FHNE with a packed crowd at Patterson Ice Center Friday night. The last time these two teams met earlier in the season, FHNE dominated and won with a final score of 6-2. Senior Charlie Brewer continued his hot streak in this game, as he has scored in the past four games for the Rangers. Sophomore Tim Kramer also scored for the Rangers, as he continues to be a young bright spot for this team.

The first period was decent for the Rangers, despite FHC giving up a goal to give FHNE an early lead. The momentum from that goal showed in the second period, as FHNE scored another goal to put them up 2-0 heading into the final period. The Ranger offense came alive in the 3rd period, as they scored two goals to knot things up at two. But FHNE came back with another two goals and took the two point lead back. FHC would score another goal in the 3rd, but suffered a tough 4-3 loss Friday night.

Despite the loss, the Rangers really showed that they can hang with a very good team. The Rangers will take on the Catholic Central Cougars next. It will be interesting to see this rematch, as the last battle between these two ended in a thriller when Charlie Brewer scored a game-winning goal in overtime to win. To defeat Catholic Central again would be a huge win the Rangers, as it would be extremely beneficial in the climb back to the top of the OK White Conference.
