Boys Varsity Hockey edges out Mona Shores 4-3

The Rangers completed the season series against the Mona Shores Sailors in a sweep Saturday night at Patterson, a day after playing on the Sailor’s home ice in Muskegon. FHC took this game by a close score of 4-3. Seniors Charlie Brewer and Jacob Demeter continue to dominate every opponent, scoring 2 of the 4 goals for the Rangers. Sophomore Cole Beaufait and junior Cole Munger scored the remaining two goals.

In the first period, the Rangers outshot the Sailors but Mona Shores converted on one of their shots to take an early 1-0 lead. FHC fought through adversity and came out strong in the second period, where Charlie would knot things up 1-1. The Rangers didn’t stop after 1 goal, as Jacob Demeter put the Rangers up 2-1 and the offense looked almost unstoppable. Mona Shores and FHC would keep on going back and forth, as Mona scored 2 more goals in the second. Cole Beaufait would tie things up at 3 with a huge goal shortly after that. The third period was an absolute battle, but Cole Munger picked the perfect time to score his first varsity goal and to put the Rangers up 4-3. Freshman goalie Logan Verpoort would close things out with a strong defensive stand to give the Rangers the win 4-3.

These 2 wins against the Sailors were huge for FHC, as they now pass East Kentwood for 4th in the OK White Conference. The Rangers have 2 more back-to-back matches against Rockford Friday and Saturday. Friday will be on the road and Saturday will be at Patterson. FHC could really use these two wins to keep the hot streak going and take it into big games against Grandville and East Kentwood.
