The Rangers opened their season at home last night with a doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets of Greenville. FHC made quick work of their opponent, both games lasting only three innings due to a mercy rule. The Rangers were victorious 19-1 and 15-0 to start their season undefeated.
Untouchable Ranger pitching greatly contributed to low offensive production from Greenville. Sophomore Caitlin Snyder pitched the first game, striking out 9 of 12 total batters faced. FHN freshman Faith Addington took the mound for game two and struck out 7 of 11 faced.
The FHC bats were hot last night with high-production all around. Freshman Katie Teller went 5-5 on the night and FHN freshman Kylie Halverson went 4-4 with 2 walks in their high school softball debuts. Freshman Bela Gonzalez also went 2-4, while sophomore Katie Willemin was 2-2 with 4 walks in the two games.
The Rangers came out hot from the very start to earn two big wins and increase team confidence. FHC will travel to Greenville on Friday to play the final game of this conference series and they look to come home with a sweep.
