The FHC girls varsity soccer team took on the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles in its second game of the season last night. The Rangers were expected to win this game and did so with a 3-0 final score.
To start off the game, junior Ashley Ward scored a goal for the Rangers on a beautiful one-touch pass from senior Rylee Hernyak, giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead going into halftime. As the second half began, senior Ali Czarnecki finished a cross from Ashley and was able to put the Rangers ahead 2-0. However the Rangers were not done yet, and the final goal for the Rangers was scored again by Ashley. She got a breakaway and took off down the field to shoot the ball perfectly into the goal.
Throughout the game, senior goalkeeper Emma Yoder was able to save some key shots and helped the Rangers secure their second shutout of the season. Emma had some help from senior Breanna Probst, the center back for the Rangers. Breanna was very active in the back field, making some key tackles and winning most of the balls in the backline.
The FHC girls varsity soccer team has high hopes for its next game, as it looks to hold its undefeated record on Saturday, April 14 at 12:30 in the afternoon against Brighton.
