Thursday’s JV football matchup featured the powerhouse Grandville Bulldogs against our FHC Rangers. Going into the game, the players expected a tough task and were certainly greeted with one. The Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Rangers as they went on to win by a score of 48-0.

Starting the game, sophomore quarterback Carson Mocherman scrambled out of the pocket with a solid run while being hit out of bounds, which got the Rangers another 15 yards off the penalty. The Ranger offense continued the first drive strongly, while driving the ball all the way to the Bulldogs’ 15-yard line. However, after being stopped on fourth down without any points on the board, the momentum shifted.

After that, the Bulldogs began to run the ball down the middle constantly, with their good blocking proving too much to handle for the defense. The Bulldogs went on to score on 7 of 8 drives. A bright spot among the defense was sophomore linebacker Sawyer Bosch who put together some solid tackles all game. As more and more points were put on the board, the Rangers struggled to string anything together on offense as they were forced to punt three times, had two turnovers, and multiple times they were stopped on fourth down.

With Thursday’s game, the Rangers conclude their non-conference schedule with a record of 0-3. Next week, FHC will be looking to kick off their OK White conference schedule with a bang when they face crosstown rival Forest Hills Northern on Thursday. FHC will surely be looking to avenge a loss to this Huskies team last year.
