Boys swim and dive places third in the West Michigan Relays

Last year, the boys swim and dive team was able to place second in the West Michigan Relays, trailing Holland West Ottawa by 48 points. This year, FHC placed third in the Relays behind Holland West Ottawa and East Grand Rapids. The Rangers finished the Relays with 286 points.

The swimmers were led by the dominant relays. FHC was able to capture two event titles in the 200-yard Butterfly Relay and the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The 200-yard Butterfly Relay consisted of sophomore Avery Letourneau, junior CJ Hier, and seniors Adam Sands and Henry Schutte. The 200-yard Freestyle relay consisted of senior Daniel Bloedow, Henry, Adam, and Avery.

The 400-yard Freestyle, which consists of Henry, Daniel, Charlie, and Avery, placed third in the meet. Henry broke the pool record when he started off the race in a blazing 45.89 seconds in the relay. The diving relay, which consists of seniors Ryan Talbot and Alex Schrot and freshmen Will Becker and Cole Hysong, placed second in the diving portion of the meet and helped the Rangers secure more points.

Coming out of the meet, the Rangers knew what they had to work on in order to beat their biggest rival EGR. This meet does not count towards their OK White conference record, so their record remains 1-0. The boys swim and dive team will not be swimming until Wednesday, Dec. 27.
