Boys swim and dive places second in OK White Conference Meet

Senior Henry Schutte broke both the conference and pool records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle at the recent conference meet. He was also the only swimmer in the Conference Prelims to win two individual titles.

Despite FH breaking records, the Rangers took second place out of seven teams behind the Pioneers of East Grand Rapids 445-409.

Sophomore Avery Letourneau, who got his State cut early on in the season, placed fourth in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:46.85, and he placed fourth in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 1:46.85. Junior CJ Hier placed sixth in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:46.85 and fourth in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:46.85. Senior Charlie Krug placed sixth in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:46.85 and third in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 22.06. Sophomore Ethan Boersma placed second in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:01.86 and sixth in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 53.65.

All four of the FH divers qualified for the Regional Tournament this week at East Kentwood. Senior Ryan Talbot led the group with a fifth-place finish and an All-American qualifying score of 385.70 points. Freshmen Cole Hysong, Alec Schrot, and Will Becker placed sixth, eleventh, and thirteenth, respectively.

This second-place finish puts them in second in the OK White conference. The next meet for FH is the diving Regionals on Thursday.
