Boys JV soccer suffers narrow loss to Caledonia 2-1

Early Saturday morning, the boys JV soccer trekked out to Caledonia to take on the Caledonia Fighting Scots. Despite the boys best efforts, they were not able to secure a win over the Scots, falling 2-1 at the end of the game.

The game started off in the Rangers favor when with-in the first thirty seconds of the game, freshman Bryce Notarnicola scored a banger off of a beautiful pass from fellow freshman Myles Shoham. Bryce stood out not only because of his goal but also because of his ability to create chances for himself and his other teammates. Unfortunately, the Rangers couldn’t hold onto the lead and went on to give up two goals to the Fighting Scots high-pressure offense.

However, there were several players that stood out for the Rangers. Once again, freshman Gavin O’Meara had a very solid game in the backline. Gavin was constantly there to clear the ball up to the forwards and prevented several opportunities for the Caledonia forwards. Just in front of Gavin in the mid-field position was freshman Noah Burr. Not only was Noah able to get back on defense, and help move the ball forward on offense, but he also impacted the flow of the game by playing great passes.

The boys JV soccer team will take on their cross-town rival Forest Hills Northern Huskies, on Tuesday, September 10.  The game will be held at Husky Stadium at 5 pm.
