Girls swim and dive wins 102-76 in conference opener

In the first conference meet, the girls swim and dive team won with a commanding score of 102-76. This puts their conference record at a perfect 1-0 and gives them some great momentum as they get ready for the Portage Central Invitational Meet and their meet versus Forest Hills Northern. Several swimmers got their best times and the Rangers dominated the standings.

The Rangers swept the first three places in two races, the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free. Even more impressive is their performance in the 200-yard individual medley where they swept the top four. Even the diving team was on their game, with freshman Payton Dailey taking second with a score of 148.10 and Olivia Thornley and senior Olivia Jeong taking third and fourth respectively with scores of 143.55 and 139.20. The relay teams dominated as well. The 200-yard medley team took first with a time of 1:55.88, the 200-yard freestyle relay took first with a time of 1:46.10, and the 400-yard freestyle relay got the winning time, even though they exhibitioned the race, with a time of 3:58.96. Sophomore Jessica Doyel, senior Sarah Schenck, and juniors Emily Johnson and Olivia Hooper all got the winning time in one or more individual races during the meet, resulting in the Rangers getting the winning time in nine out of twelve of the races. This was a very strong performance from the Rangers in their first conference meet.

The Rangers are looking to test themselves as they look to the Portage meet Saturday and their next conference meet against rival Forest Hills Northern next week.
