Varsity volleyball picks up their second conference win against the Cedar Springs Redhawks

Last night the varsity volleyball team took on the Cedar Springs Redhawks in another OK White Conference showdown. The Rangers were able to secure the win and went 3-0 in sets. The first set resulted in a win of 25-17, the second was 25-20, and the final set ended with a final score of 25-13 in the Rangers favor.

There were several players who were key influences in the Rangers win over the Redhawks. One of them being junior Julia Bouma, who had a very strong performance in the libero position. Not only was Julia able to dig a majority of Cedar Springs serves, but she also completed several crisp passes that set her teammates up for kills. In front of Julia, fellow junior Tatum Otolski also had a very well-played game in the front row. Tatum had several flares, which resulted in points for the Rangers, and she also had a few very clean blocks.

The trio of sophomore Sophie Shields, junior Morghan Tilton, and senior Lauren Schofield took control of the game early for the Rangers. With Morghan as a setter and Lauren and Sophie on the outsides, the Rangers benefited off multiple points from the trios combinations. Morghan would set the ball up for one of the two outside hitters, and they would finish the playoff with a kill, and this was a major contribution to the Rangers win.

With this win under their belt, the FHC Varsity Volleyball team now has a record of 2-0 in the conference. Their next game will take place Thursday, September 19 where they will be taking on the Forest Hills Northern Huskies once again. This cross-town rivalry match will be played on the Rangers home court at 6:00 pm.
