Girls varsity field hockey dominates Detroit Country Day in 2-0 win

This season has produced many learning opportunities for the younger FH team. After a devastating loss to Ann Arbor Pioneer this past week, the girls were able to truly show out against Detroit Country Day High School on Saturday.

Forest Hills defeated DCD 2-0. Both goals were scored in the first half by FHC senior Megan Raisch; FHC junior Laura Balanda and FHE sophomore Brooke Toigo each had an assist that led to one of Megan’s goals.

“Strong communication allowed each section of the team to work together and create scoring opportunities,” Megan said. “When the ball was on our side, our defense was able to quickly get it back up to the runners on offense, who were then able to take it up and score.”

The Forest Hills triumph against Detroit Country Day was very important. This victory allows Forest Hills to secure a spot in Division 1 varsity field hockey next season. The Forest Hills girls are now 2-7 with four games remaining in the regular season. They will now prepare to take on Mercy High School on Saturday, October 28th.
