Varsity volleyball suffers tough loss to the Lowell Red Arrows in four sets

The FHC varsity volleyball team took on the top-ranked team in Division 1, the Lowell Red Arrows, last week in an OK White Conference showdown. The Rangers were not able to pull off the victory; however, they drew out the game into a fourth set but lost 3-1.

In the first set, the Rangers hung close to the Red Arrows and only lost 25-19. Headed into the second set, the Rangers picked up the momentum and came out on top with a score of 25-21. Junior Tatum Otolski had five kills in the second set alone and two serving attempts in the second. Alongside her was sophomore Grace Hudkins, who had five points in the second set and four serving attempts as well.

The Rangers and the Red Arrows were all tied up going into the third set; however, the Red Arrows pulled out a win of 25-15 in the third set, and yet again in the fourth and final set. The fourth set came down to the final few points, but Lowell pulled away with a score of 25-20. Junior Julia Bouma had a stellar performance throughout the game, combining for 19 digs off the Red Arrows serves. Freshman Sarah Dunn also had a solid game, finishing with nine points, and sophomore Sophie Shields finished with ten points overall.

The Rangers now head into the week of October 7 with several big games ahead as they take on the Greenville Yellow Jackets in an OK White Conference game this Tuesday, October 8. The game will be played in Greenville at 6:00 pm.
