Freshman Stephanie Currie’s goal two minutes into the first overtime propelled FHC past East Kentwood and into the Regionals for the first time in five years.  Next up is a game against upstart Kalamazoo Loy Norrix tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Grandville High School.  Loy Norrix’s girls soccer team beat perennial powerhouse Okemos 4-0 in the district final and has 9 seniors who have been on varsity for four years.
Stephanie Currie’s older sister, Mackenzie, knows what is necessary for the Rangers to get to the Regional Final.

“We just need to play our game and stay confident in order to win,” said Mackenzie, who is a four year varsity player.

The Rangers, who are led in scoring by sophomore Madeline Becker and junior Bailey Korhorn, are currently ranked number one in Michigan and number two in the nation by USA today.

A win over Loy Norrix tomorrow would advance the team to the Regional Final against the winner of the Grandville/Mona Shores game.  That game would be Thursday at 7 p.m.
Mackenzie Currie and her five other senior teammates are hoping to make it into the semi-finals held at Spring Arbor, Tuesday the 14th at 7 pm. The State Championship game is on Friday, June 17th at 4pm.
