the difference between the two

the+difference+between+the+two

thundering rain

it’s raining lightning

onto her cheeks

she can’t tell the difference between the two

looking up she analyzes every single raindrop

individually

a splash of purple comes to mind

the lightning falters

into a flash

her chin tilted

her face into the rain

the bolt stops short of the tip of her nose

she traces her eyes up the rod

identifying the outline

she notices the pattern

the thunder shakes deep

the grayed lamp on her desk rattles

pitter-patter on the windows

she slips off her coat

sliding to the floor

she ignores the puddle

she can’t tell the difference between the two
