if I were You

if I were You,

I would probably be found with Them—

Everyone I hate.

unfortunately, I would find Myself amongst Those lacking

in Their akin-ness to Mine.

unfortunately, I would find Myself more outcast:

just like You.

You tell Me You don’t relish in Their company.

You tell Me You don’t thrive under the roof of a thousand tired nights,

lost to the hum of ten million pointless thoughts

to Those you can’t relate.

if I were You,

I would probably leave Them.

if I were You,

I would find the time

to find the People that make You happy.

wasting away another year,

I sit by and watch You slip away—

further into Their grasp

when I want You to be in Mine.

when I find the time,

I observe from afar in desperate moderation;

the feeling of longing for Your world comes

only when I see You

if I were You,

I would leave Them for My own fear of drowning.

but that is just Me.
