Quarantine is an opportunity to better yourself. Whether it’s mastering a new skill, cooking a meal, or picking up a good book, the possibilities are endless.
Personally, without dance in my life, I’ve chosen to mainly pursue fitness over break. Coincidentally, I’ve heard tons of mixed reviews on a new workout program that is blowing up: Chloe Ting’s 2 Weeks Shred Challenge.
For free, the program offers 2 to 4 varying videos of exercises that all target different muscles in hopes of strengthening them whether its abs, obliques, quads, or more. The workouts range from 25-50 minutes per day for 14 days depending on the number of videos and their lengths.
The recent reviews have mostly been positive; people are raving about how beneficial the exercises are and how distinct the results come out to be. However, other reviews have exclaimed how it was a waste of time and disadvantageous. Because of this, I wanted to give it a try and see what my own opinions would be.
The challenge started off easy but hard at the same time. It was easy due to the short workout session only containing two videos, but hard because of the fact that I hadn’t challenged myself this much since dance had stopped. Yet when I finished the workout, I felt refreshed, strengthened, and ready for Day 2.
Day 5: Active rest day
I was relieved when I saw there were no exercises for day 5. Although there were no required workouts, I still wanted to keep myself active and prepared. I already felt better overall after just five days of this challenge and was determined to keep pushing.
Whenever I see four videos, I want to give up, but I know that’s not an option. I keep in mind that the end is near and that the results will be worth it. I push through the workouts and feel like I could take on the world afterward.
The final day has arrived. I already feel so accomplished, but I know to finish off strong will be so beyond worth it. I was so motivated on Day 14 since I knew I had worked hard for two weeks straight to reach a common goal.
Chloe Ting is a huge influencer just because of her initiation of this program. The challenge wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for her radiating positivity and constant motivation throughout the video. Even though she’s talking through a screen, it feels like she is right there with you as she continues with her words of encouragement.
The 2-week shred was so valuable for my everyday life and was a reason for me to get out of bed in the morning. I felt stronger and healthier after those 14 days of consistent hard work. I realized that meeting my goal of getting in shape requires not just working out every day, but it also requires maintaining a healthy diet and drinking lots of water on a day to day basis.
So, I encourage you to take advantage of these unprecedented times and go do something useful because you’ll feel like a million bucks afterward, I promise.
