Last night, the varsity volleyball team took on the Greenville Yellowjackets in its first OK White Conference game of the season. After coming off a big win versus the FHE Hawks last week, the team was looking to continue on with its streak. Proving their dominance, the Rangers ended up stealing the victory from the Yellowjackets in only four sets, thus bumping their overall record up to 2-0.

Senior Morghan Tilton started off with an impressive first set, providing 10 assists in the first set. Alongside her, fellow senior Julia Bouma had five digs in the first set alone. The Rangers went on to win the first set with a score of 25-17. The second set proved to be much like the first, and the Rangers took a strong lead, winning the set 25-15. Morghan once again was very effective with the assists in this set picking up twelve more assists to her teammates.

As the third set commenced, the Rangers fell just short of the Yellowjackets and dropped the set 25-18. The team needed just one more set-win in order to pull away victorious, and in the fourth set, the Rangers crushed the Yellowjackets 25-14. Senior Tatum Otolski had a phenomenal performance last night with 20 kills, leading the team in that category. Tatum also went on to have six blocks against the Yellowjackets.

The varsity volleyball team is now 1-0 in conference play and 2-0 overall. The girls’ next game will be against the Lowell Red Arrows and will be played away at Lowell High School. The game will take place this Thursday, September 17, at 6:00 PM. It will be a huge one for the Rangers as Lowell is the defending state runner-up, and the Rangers last fell to the rival in the District final last year.
