The boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Gainey Athletic Complex yesterday, excited to kick off their season with their first Jamboree. They finished off very strong, and began their season with a huge confidence booster.

“Overall, we had a great performance,” head coach Ryan Schipper said. “Both of our teams finished strong, and now we have a lot of momentum going into our next invite on Friday.”

The boys team took off first last night with junior Sam Yeager leading the way for the Rangers as he finished in 6th place with a time of 16 minutes and 54 seconds. Following Sam was sophomore Ethan Krampe, who finished 13th with a time of 17 minutes and 32 seconds.

“It was a great first race to start things off,” Sam said. “I am excited to see how our team does the rest of the season, and I know that we have worked hard to perform well this season.”

Then, the girls took off. They finished really strong last night with freshman Clara James-Heer leading the Rangers as she finished 2nd place with a time of 18 minutes and 21 seconds. Following her was senior Whitney Currie. She finished 7th with a time of 19 minutes and 12 seconds.

“We’re looking forward to Friday, as we know that we have worked hard to win each meet this year,” Schipper said.

The Rangers take on Ottawa Hills in their next match. The meet will be at Riverside park on Friday, September 18th at 5:00 PM.
