Freshman volleyball takes down Lowell to start season 3-0

On Thursday, the girls freshman volleyball team traveled to Lowell to take on the Red Arrows. This was a big game for them considering, that Lowell was a very competitive conference team.

The first game started off with Lowell taking an early 6-0 lead. The girls came back, though, and made some great plays to get back into the game. Freshman Anna Thornburg came up with some huge plays down the stretch, setting her teammates up with great digs. The girls ended up carrying that momentum throughout the whole game to grab a 25-12 win. Freshman Maggie Sneider also played phenomenally, halting the Red Arrows in their tracks.

“Maggie had a great game running all of our plays,” freshman Kadence Roelfzema said.

The second game went almost better than the first game. Freshman Megan Hackerd went on a great serving run, giving the rangers a huge lead early. The girls continued to run their plays and easily won the second game to sweep Lowell 2-0. The girls have started off the season very nicely and haven’t lost a game yet. They hope to keep this hot streak going heading into a game against South Christian on Monday, September 21.
