Senior prom court nominee Julia Bouma

Prom Court Q&As: Julia Bouma

What’s one word to describe how you feel about being on prom court?

“Very grateful.”

Why do you think you were nominated?

“To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to be on court, so this came as a pleasant surprise. I can only hope I was nominated because my life has touched others more than I thought it did.”

What is your opinion towards the alteration of senior prom this year?

“Of course, like most people, I’m a little sad we don’t get a normal senior prom, but given our circumstances, I am very thankful that the school came up with an alternative situation to make up for all the things we have lost this year. With our whole senior class together, I think it will be a great time.”

How severe is your senioritis?

“It was way more severe at the beginning of the year. Now that things are coming to an end, I don’t know if I’m completely ready for high school to be over yet.”

What is one song, in particular, you hope the DJ will play at the dance?

“Any song from Bryce Vine. My friends and I went to a concert he sang at and we listen to him a lot, so we would love to hear some Bryce.”

Is there anyone who isn’t nominated for court who you believe should be recognized?

“[Senior] Katie Costello. She is the kindest and smartest girl I know. She is so hard-working and such a joy to be around. Overall, [she is] a great gal, and I love her so, so much.”

What was the highlight of your senior year?

“So far, the highlight of my senior year has been the volleyball season. I love the sport and the people on the team with my whole heart. Getting to play with them one last time was a blast.”

What will you miss most from your time here at FHC?

“I will miss the people at FHC the most. I have gotten to know some of the best people and have memories that will last forever.”
