FHC Inspires Q&As: Lucy Mclean

Speaker: Lucy Mclean

How do you feel about your TED Talk being picked for FHC Inspires?

“I am excited and a little bit nervous for FHC Inspires. All the people participating in this are so sweet, and I’m looking forward to spending time with them and watching their TED Talks.”

What is a quick description of your TED Talk?

“My TED Talk is about what life is like being short. I talk about how we all have things that we don’t necessarily love about ourselves, but how we should focus on the good that comes out of those things rather than the bad.”

Does public speaking make you nervous? How has this project improved your skills?

“Public speaking one-hundred percent makes me nervous. However, once I finish my Talk, I am always glad that I did it. The more I present and talk to large crowds, the more comfortable I feel and the more I enjoy it.”

What do you hope people will take away from your Talk?

“I hope that everyone can walk away from my TED Talk wanting to be more appreciative of the things that life has given them.”

Who’s TED Talk are you excited to hear live?

“I am incredibly excited to hear Addi Bunnell’s TED Talk on her relationship with one of our neighbors: Jim Wilson.”

If your presentation was a color, what would it be and why?

“It would for sure be yellow. My presentation is definitely not as deep as the majority of the other TED Talks. The whole point of my TED Talk is to make people want to look at the happy parts of life, and yellow is the color that best associated with happiness.”
