Name: Josie Butler

Grade: 10th

Role: Crazy Maria aka Godmother

1. Why did you decide to try out for the musical?

“I wanted to do the musical because it’s something I’ve never really done before. I did the ‘musical’ last year; however, it was a film. But, overall, it was a great experience. I decided that I was just going to try for any opportunity to perform, and here we are.”

2. What are you most excited about?

“I’m most excited for the show rituals. I think they’re so fun, and they’re a great bonding experience for everyone. It’s also a great way to get ready for the shows, whether that be calming nerves or getting hype.”

3. Why should people come see the show?

“Everyone should definitely come see the show. This version of Cinderella is hilarious, and our cast and crew is amazing. We’ve all worked so hard, and the show reflects that. Come see the show.”

4. What’s been your favorite memory associated with the show?

“My favorite memory would have to be when we were all in the dance studio, eating dinner, and we started doing this interactive song thing. It just [got] everyone involved and more comfortable.”

5. What do you and your character have in common?

“My character and I both have two separate personalities. She’s crazy but, at times, can be pretty elegant, and I feel like I have that same dynamic at times.”

6. Do you have any pre-performance rituals to get into the zone?

“Going over lines always helps to feel prepared, but getting everyone together to warm up vocals or just chat is great to calm the nerves.”

7. What’s your favorite part about being associated with the theatre program?

“I love the theatre program. FHC is known for our great theatre program, and it is so fun to be a part of. It’s also so rewarding and is such a great way to meet new people and step out of your comfort zone.”

8. Which Disney character do you think you’re most alike and why?

“I think I relate to a lot to Belle just because she’s very goal oriented. She’s also kind, understanding, and adaptable, which are some traits I like to think I have.”

9. Who would you like to thank?

“I would love to thank all of the cast and crew for being so amazing and open-minded. You’re all so kind and hardworking, so thank you for that. Also, Mrs. Donovan and all of the parents who help out and provide meals for all of us—thank you so much. [Thank you to] Ashley, Kyle, and Mr. Torrey as well, for pushing us and wanting a great show for us.”
