Prom Court Q&As 2023: Kami Koetsier

What was your reaction to the court announcement?

“Surprised and happy! When I found out, I was so excited to tell my mom. Sadly, the boyfriend didn’t make the cut.”

How do you feel about being on court?

“It feels really good to be on the court because freshman year, I was really quiet and never branched out, so I wouldn’t [have] imagined this, but now, I feel like I am friends with everyone at school and so this feels really special.”

What’s a goal you want to accomplish after senior year? 

“I’ve been taking 4 years of American Sign Language here and I love it so much, so I plan to continue that in the future and grow even more in that area!”

Do you have any special plans for prom night you’re excited about? 

“I don’t have any specific plans, just the usual dance and after party, but since it will be our last dance ever, it will be really special and I’m really looking forward to celebrating with everyone.”

What’s your favorite comfort food?

“100% sushi. Any kind. I love sushi. Lots of soy sauce.”

How likely are you to succeed in a zombie apocalypse? 

“I would absolutely not succeed in a zombie apocalypse. I think I would die straight away, in fact, I would likely give up immediately and let them get me.”

What’s your favorite senior year memory?

“I loved the first day of school because my friends and I all wore colored wigs and heart sunglasses, so we looked really good. I also love football season, dressing up for the games, and eating Chick-fil-A at the tailgates, thanks to Mrs. Shoham.”
