Noises Off Q&A: Katie Hicks
Name: Katie Hicks
Grade: Senior
Role: Dotty/Mrs. Clackett
1.) What are you most excited about?
“I am most excited about being in a role that really pushes me to be a better actress; I’ve never done anything so challenging.”
2.) What makes you fit your role so well?
“Dotty and Mrs. Clackett are characters with a lot of personality, and I believe I perform best when I play an eccentric character.”
3.) What is your favorite part about being involved in the play?
“I get to perform. I love to make people forget about their troubles for an hour or two through performance.”
4.) What should the audience be excited about?
“The audience should be most excited about being able to forget about all their current stress for a night and laugh with us! The audience will also see something they’ve most likely never seen before; after the first act, the two-story set literally spins around, and you get to see what goes on backstage.”
5.) What is your favorite part of your role?
“My favorite part about my role is that there are two parts to it: Dotty and Mrs. Clackett. I get to play Dotty, an American actress, and Dotty gets to play Mrs. Clackett in Nothing On, the play within the play. Both characters have their own quirks, and I love portraying both onstage.”
6.) Do you think theater has affected your overall high school experience? Why or why not?
“Theater has definitely changed high school for the better; I have met so many incredible people through our love to perform. I have become so much more confident in everyday life thanks to theater.”
