TCT’s The Countless Thanks 2018: Payton Field

Ken George–

Mr. George, the impact you have had on my life is immeasurable. Over the years, we have formed an exceptional bond– a relationship that I will always cherish and treasure. When I joined your class as a freshman, you immediately said that you couldn’t possibly teach a room full of students without getting to know each one of us individually. You care about your students in a way that some teachers do not. You are genuinely dedicated to the success of others; that’s what differentiates you from other teachers. It’s not just that you care, but you’re invested in the wellbeing of everyone around you. And as cliché as it is, without you and your impact on my life, I would not be where I am. You showed me that there is so much more to me than just ballet, and you encouraged me to explore those other options. You have encouraged me to do my best and make the most of every situation. And most importantly, you have been someone whom I know I can turn to with anything. For those reasons, I am thankful for you. Thank you for being a constant in my crazy life and for, as you would say, being my “second father.” Thanks for being the amazing person that you are; you truly are the best.

Lil’ Cuties —

Tess and Rach, I think it’s pretty obvious that I am thankful for you both. You are my best friends, and I honestly wouldn’t be the same without you. Rach, I’m thankful for your constant energy and your ability to always put a smile on my face. Tess, I’m thankful for your undeniable kindness and benevolence towards everyone around you. Your dedication to helping others and bettering our community is inspiring. Both of you inspire me to be a better person. Your welcoming and positive personalities are just two things of the many things that I admire about you both. Thank you for bringing perpetual happiness into my life and for being two of the best friends I could ask for.

Alexander Haan —

Alexander, the first time I met you, I was sitting on the couch in Mr. George’s room. You immediately introduced yourself and began to ask me questions about my crazy dance schedule. Through FHC Inspires, we became closer, and I had the privilege of helping and listening to your Ted Talk about happiness. You radiate happiness and compassion. In any situation, you are always offering a helping hand and wondering how you can contribute. People like you are what make FHC such a welcoming and friendly environment. Thank you for always saying hi, genuinely caring about others, and for making FHC a better place.

Jayla Williams —

Jayla, you have a prodigious number of qualities that make you so special and amazing. You are a natural-born leader and you have a way of inspiring others to participate. I mean, who else would start a girls wrestling team and convince others to join? Your way with words and leadership is motivational. I feel really lucky to be able to call you my friend, not just because of your status as a leader, but also because you have a heart of gold and are such an asset to the FHC community.

Ashlyn Korpak —

Ashlyn, I am so thankful for you. Whenever I have time in my schedule to visit during 6th hour, you always welcome me with a kind smile. Your kindness is not the only quality that I admire about you. You are so dedicated and honest when it comes to your work. Your writing is so raw and emotional, and it is extremely touching. I love seeing how dedicated you are to making each story the best. Thank you for always making me feel so welcome and for making your stories so emotional and moving.

Kyle Collar–

Kyle, one of your many attributes is your dedication and drive. In any sport or activity you participate in, you work incredibly hard and push yourself and others to do better. You see the best in people and are always willing to lend a helping hand. You also encourage others to try new things and push them to step out of their comfort zones. Not only am I thankful for you in general, but I’m thankful for your strong, dedicated, and positive mindset.

Christian Beckering–

Christian, you are the best part of my day, and I am so thankful for you. Thanks for showing me your loving personality and giving me a hug every day before first hour. Ever since 8th grade, I am so glad that I have gotten the chance to know you. I loved playing Pacman in the hallways with you, and I will cherish our memories together. You have the kindest heart and are the sweetest person.

David Buth–

Dave, for the past few years, you have been a huge role model in my life. Our trip to California is something that I will remember for the rest of my life. One thing that I really took away from that trip was perseverance. You taught me about the importance of persevering through challenges. My most memorable moment with you was when we reached the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. After being awake for over 24 hours, we persevered and finally reached the summit. Sitting on the top of that mountain, eating graham crackers and fruit snacks, I felt incredibly accomplished. You motivated me throughout the hike and showed me the power of perseverance. Also, without your immense plethora of knowledge, I would have not made it through chemistry. Thank you for showing me the importance of perseverance, even in challenging situations. I am so thankful for you and your impact on my life. Even though you are living an adventurous life and climbing mountains on the West Coast every day, I am excited to see when our paths will cross again.
