Student Council Q&A: Annika Santos
Name: Annika Santos
Grade: Sophomore
Running for: Treasurer
1. Why are you running?
“I love being able to represent my classmates and being a part of the creation of school spirit activities. Most of all, I love running the fundraisers for our school.”
2. How do you believe you can help your grade?
“I’d like to set up a system for recycling and compost. Apparently, there isn’t one, and that’s concerning. A teacher told me that after the seniors left, recycling was just thrown back into the trash cans because it had no other place to go. I think Student Council can take on this job.”
3. What changes would you like to see in your grade?
“We need to get larger participation and passion from our classmates. Our class is one big team; we just need to work together and mobilize our class to help with FHC spirit activities and challenges.”
4. Do you have experience with Student Council?
“Yes, I was president freshman year and have a total of three years of student council experience. It’s a big part of me.”
5. What is the most gratifying part of being on Student Council?
“I love serving our community through activities like the Christmas Store, Family Promise, and Women At Risk. It’s a great feeling knowing that you are helping so many people. I take pride in our school/student government for contributing to these causes.”
6. Why should students vote for you?
“I am in many different extracurriculars and have a lot of high school Student Council experience. So, I am able to talk to many different sections of our class and can most efficiently let their voices be heard. I also don’t need to learn from scratch when building floats, banners, and creating lip syncs. Let’s make them bigger, better, and let’s win.”
