TCT’s The Countless Thanks 2019: Remmie Gavle

My siblings

Sometimes I wonder what my life would look like without the four of you: most likely very calm, and definitely less annoying—but also extremely dull.

Hudson, even though you are still learning to read, you teach me lessons every day. At just six years old, you constantly remind me to be playful and joyous in all situations.

And Jhett, I truly couldn’t ask for a better big brother. Fifteen years of you pushing me around have taught me to be tough, and the knowledge that you always have my back makes me confident. I don’t thank you enough for always being available to give me a ride.

Tailor, even after six years of sharing a room and countless petty arguments, I have an insurmountable amount of love for you. You have never failed to be there when I need your advice or simply a good laugh, and I’m so thankful to have you as a sister, friend, and role model.

Hannah—I look up to you so much. As long as I can remember, I’ve tried to emulate everything that you do. My love and passion for so many things stems from your influence on me, and I’m so grateful for the adventures and opportunities you have shared with me over the years.

For that and so much more, I am thankful for each of you, and I wouldn’t want to experience life without you guys.

Mom

Thank you for making the most delicious meals on the planet. Thank you for taking me to school when I’m too tired to wake up to my alarm. Thank you for your constant presence in the stands at my various sporting events. Thank you for creating my favorite people. Thank you for unconditionally loving me with your whole heart. Thank you for passing down that beautiful, genuine smile down to me. Thank you for always checking in on me. Thank you for laughing and taking a picture with me when we accidentally wear the same outfit instead of getting mad at me for stealing your clothes. Thank you for all of the sacrifices you have made to make my life better—for the tradeoffs I know you will continue to make. I love you so much, Mom, and I’m eternally grateful for everything you do for me.

Dad

One of my earliest memories is crying during a little league softball game after the other catcher got injured and had to leave. Because we were limited on players, I was left to spend the rest of the game behind the plate. A ten-year-old in full gear on a 90 degree day? Maybe not. The umpire called a timeout for me to replenish my system after losing hydration to sweat and tears. I jogged to the dugout, where I found you, Dad, ready with a bottle of water. You proceeded to pour it on top of my head, successfully make me smile with a corny joke, and make sure I was okay before I jogged back to my position. You have always pushed me to be my very best; you’ve taught me that I can’t give up. I strive to succeed in every way I can—in sports, academics, and life—to be a strong, hard-working person because of the lessons you have taught me. I am so thankful to have you to guide me through life.

Mackenzie Davis

For about five years now, I’ve been lucky enough to call you my best friend. My number one. My go-to. Kenz, there’s so much about you that I love: your crazy humor, all those hilarious facial expressions, your brilliant mind, and your caring personality. You’ve conjured up so many wild ideas that have led us on countless memorable adventures. You always know how to make me feel better, sometimes even before I do. You deserve more thanks for the never-ending list of things you do for me, and I want you to know that I am so grateful to have you by my side as we walk through life. For giving me rides, thoughtful advice, and so much more, thank you.

Julia, Katie, Abby, Sammie, Kenzie, Mauri, and Molly

Isn’t it crazy how in just one year we all became so close? And isn’t it insane that a video was what brought us together? I am so very grateful to have all seven of you as my closest friends. Each of you make my day pretty much every day. With your Christmas-light smiles, witty remarks, and amazing hearts, it is impossible to be glum in the presence of any one of you. I love each of you so much. Thank you, Housewives, for always being there for me, and for possessing the best, most unique laughs on the planet. Also, thank you for having the most gracious, welcoming, and loving parents—I am unbelievably thankful for all of them, too.

Molly Dixon

You have such a kind, genuine soul, Molly. Thank you for checking on me daily and listening to my pitiful problems. You seem to always know when I need someone to talk to, and you never fail to be that person. You also happen to be wonderfully helpful; I don’t think I could make it through our shared classes without you, and I appreciate the miniature celebrations you throw for me when I get a good grade, oftentimes because of your assistance. Thank you for laughing at the dumbest jokes with me and making me smile. I am so thankful to be your friend.

Beylul Kahsay

You are quite possibly the funniest person I have ever met, and you make me laugh like no other. I am so thankful to have you with me in TCT; your eternal kindness contrasted with your unrelenting sarcasm makes me happy on the regular. Thank you so much for editing my papers, laughing with me at our collective mishaps, and for just being you.
