It is so easy to take for granted
One of the good things about this hard time is that I can still see my friends. Although we stay 6 feet apart, sitting on the top of our cars, and it happens only every other week, I still get to see them.
I feel like, over these past couple of months, it has been easy to lose touch with people. But, I know that it doesn’t matter how many times my friends and I see each other or how many times we talk in a day–we are still the same people and the same friend group, and I think that that is very special.
I’ve written stories before about how grateful I am for my friends, but there aren’t enough words to write in a short column about how truly appreciative I am. Although our friendship isn’t a new thing, I still count it as a good thing because I never try to take our friendships for granted.
Especially in these times, I try to make sure they know what I’m feeling, what I’m going through, and everything going on at all times so we can stay close during this time.
I feel like it’s so easy to take for granted the fact that we have close friends that we consider our family–not everyone has that. I’m always reminded how amazing my friends are through the little things, whether that’s bringing me food when we can’t see each other or sending a quick text to check in with me, or even just being there to listen.
I can’t wait for everything to get back to normal where I can hug my friends, hangout each weekend, and laugh so hard at our sleepovers where we never sleep.
Sometimes, it can be hard to find your group of people that are your best friends for life. So, I am so lucky and happy that I found mine.
There are so many good things coming out of this hard time but one good thing that I will always be grateful for are my friends.
