TCT’s The Countless Thanks: Liza McCarthy
Mom and Dad: for everything
Thank you for everything you do for me. Whether it’s helping me with math homework or painting my nails, I’m thankful for every moment. Thank you for giving me a chance to figure things out on my own but always being there ready to give me guidance. Thank you for the amazing dinners and the incredible family vacations. I’m so thankful for every moment we spend together!
My brother: for being my brother
Sawyer, thanks for putting up with me (not that you have a choice). But seriously, thank you for being my buddy. I am so thankful to have a brother that I’m so close to and have such an amazing relationship with. Thanks for going on fun adventures, doing hilariously dumb stuff together, and just having my back.
My cousins: for the crazy times
Thank you, Maddy Bachert, Ben Bachert, and Jake Bachert for being like my additional brothers and sisters. Man oh man, the things we’ve done together! From family vacations to bike rides around the neighborhood, I can say that we’ve pretty much done it all. Thank you for going along with my insanity and fun games and agreeing to play house all those times when we were younger. I’m so thankful for how close we have remained throughout the years and for all the adventures we still go on now.
Grandma and Poppy Filter:
Thank you for everything! I’m so thankful for your support and love in everything I do. Thank you so much for all the family gatherings I constantly look forward to and all the family vacations you took us on! I’m so thankful for the memories I’ve made with you both, and I love you so much.
Rachel Marco and Lauren Batterbee: for being my constants
From kindergarten to junior year, we are still the best of friends. Even though you two went to Goodwillie, when we were reunited, we picked up right where we left off in middle school as super close friends once again. Our school schedules may get in the way of us being in the same classes, but it definitely hasn’t kept us from seeing each other, even if there’s a little gap between catch-up times. I’m so thankful for our long-lasting friendship that I’m sure will continue to grow as time goes on!
My friends: for keeping me sane
School can be rough, but when I have such amazing friends, it’s not so bad. Bella Long, thank you for always having a hug ready for me when I need it. Vinod Rajakrishna, thank you for being there for me anytime I need it and sometimes knowing me better than myself. Katie Wilson, thank you for just being the sweet person you are. Joy Song, thank you for being my Human Anatomy and Physiology buddy and explaining things to me when I’m confused. Lani Quach, for being the best tennis partner that I could ask for. Jadelin Hinkel, thank you for such an amazingly fun band experience, thank you for editing everything I write, and thank you for always having a crazy story to tell. Morgan Young, thank you for being my stand partner for the past few years and for doing burpees in English when you didn’t know the song. Brinley Struyk, thank you for being like the sister I’ve never had, and I’m so glad we share so many memories together despite us being at different schools. Rylie Radde, thank you for being such a light and bringing so much joy to my life. I would not be the person I am today without all of you, so thank you for helping me grow and for being such important people in my life.
Mr. George: for making me the best student I can be
Mr. George, thank you for all that you do. Thank you for caring about each and every student that walks into your classroom. Anyone who listens to you teach can easily tell that you love your job and that you are clearly meant to be there. Thank you for the life lessons, thank you for helping improve my writing so much, and thank you for making me look forward to coming into your class each day. I’m so thankful that I have yet another opportunity to learn from you this year!
