The tradition I have cherished since childhood

For as long as I can remember, my family and I would go to Bronners Christmas store. We would walk in, and I would instantly know the holiday season was upon us. I was surrounded by lights, ornaments, candy canes, and every other Christmas related thing you could think of.

However, nothing could distract me from getting to the Christmas village display.

Each year, we picked out a house or building as well as some accessories that my sister and I got to strategically pick out to add to our own personal Christmas village display at home. This process can take upwards of two hours, but I never minded. In fact, no matter how indecisive my little mind was, we would wait until each and every one of us was positive about the purchase for the year.

As soon as we got home, I knew I would almost always beg my dad to put the Christmas Village together with the addition of what we just bought. Putting it together is no easy task, especially when you have been adding to it for fifteen years, but as soon as he could, he would.

We would all gather around helping and watching in awe as he found new and innovative ways to display my favorite tradition each year.

And once it’s up, I get to stare at this little glass town hand-painted in its perfection—knowing my heart, soul, and childhood went into it. I will continue this tradition forever because it gave me something to look forward to year after year: time spent with my family, something beautiful to look at, and most importantly, a tradition I will forever cherish.
