Speaker: Kate Hotaling
How do you feel about your TED Talk being picked for FHC Inspires?
“I am so happy and partially surprised that my TED Talk was chosen for FHC Inspires. I never would have thought I would be specifically chosen to do a public speaking project a second time.”
What is a quick description of your TED Talk?
“My TED Talk is all about my fear of public speaking and the causes of this fear, as well as the effects that it has on my life.”
Does public speaking make you nervous? How has this project improved your skills?
“Public speaking makes me nervous beyond compare, but after doing this TED Talk, I feel more comfortable speaking knowing I can be myself when presenting.”
Who are you giving this TED Talk for and why?
“This TED Talk goes out to anyone that may share the fear of public speaking with me. It is meant to prove that it is so normal, as well as something that can be conquered.”
What do you hope people will take away from your Talk?
“I hope people will listen to my TED Talk and hear or see that if I can stand in front of a crowd and face my biggest fear, so can they.”
Who’s TED Talk are you excited to hear live?
“I am super excited to hear Trevor Vanskiver’s TED Talk live. He is a great student, and I know he always gives 100% effort to everything he does.”
If your presentation was a color, what would it be and why?
“If my presentation were a color, it would be yellow. The color yellow, to me, feels warm and happy. My TED Talk is supposed to be upbeat and encouraging.”
