2022 FHC’s Got Talent Q&As: Gavin O’Meara
Name: Gavin O’Meara
Grade: 12th
Act/position: Singing
Partner(s): Thomas Cobb
What is one word you’d use to describe your act?
“Funny—entertaining. Entertaining is a better word than funny.”
Why did you decide to try out for the show?
“I decided to try out for the show because [senior] Thomas [Cobb] and [senior] Ella [Fauson] asked me to, so I was like, ‘Yeah, why not?'”
What preparation has gone into preparing for your performance?
“Thomas and I just talked about what song we were going to do. Then, we each practiced separately, our parts; Thomas practiced his guitar part alone, and I wrote my piano part alone. We got together, and we ran through it and saw how it worked.”
What’s another act you’re most excited to watch?
“I am extremely excited for the Senior Fellas act. I’m not exactly sure what they’re gonna do, but whatever it is, it’ll be great. It’ll be funny—always is.”
Why should people come watch the show?
“People should come to FHC’s Got Talent because it’ll just be a super fun night that you get to watch your peers, your fellow classmates. You get to watch them do what they love the most, and you get to watch some pretty amazing talents that you would never know that some of your classmates have.”
When did you acquire your talent?
“I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, so that’s been a part of my life [for] forever, but playing the piano—I’m self-taught. I started teaching myself two years ago because I was like, ‘Hey, you know, it would be kind of cool if I could play the piano.'”
If you had to choose either Alvin, Simon, or Theodore, which chipmunk would you relate to most and why?
“I don’t know why, but I just don’t feel like Alvin. I feel like probably Simon because he just gives off major middle child vibes. I don’t know why, but he just does, and I’m a middle child, also. Simon’s a little bit quirky, a little bit weird, and I feel like I’m kind of weird. Also, Simon never shuts up, and I don’t either.”
