The Central Trend

Sydney Race

Sydney Race, Staff Writer

Sydney Race is a freshman at FHC and is starting her first year on The Central Trend. She is a sideline and competitive cheerleader and has a long history of dance. She doesn't fancy fashion or beauty, but you’ll always find the aquamarine ring that once belonged to her great-great-grandmother Rose on her left middle finger and the little pearl earrings she adored until one fell down the sink.

Favorite comfort foods: Lemon Luna Bars and Key Lime LaCroix.

Favorite Harry Potter character: Neville Longbottom or Hermione Granger (classic).

Artists/Bands she considers perfect: Post Malone, Lorde, The Neighbourhood, and girl in red.

Notable talents: Cracking her phone, knowing all the lyrics to We Didn’t Start the Fire and Alphabet Aerobics, and knowing too many useless fun facts.

Girl in red's newest album (released April 30, 2021) cover. Very abstract piece of art for a not-so abstract album.

If i could make it go quiet was, at best, mediocre

May 12, 2021

Listening to girl in red reminds me of the wholesomeness of the summer of 2019. The air that summer seemed crisper and more pristine, even though it’s the air we breathe every day. I heard the birds...

As time continues to progress, we have this frozen moment to cherish. No matter how much time passes, this picture in our little corner will forever stay the same.

[Photo] The ongoing, everlasting concept of time

As time continues to progress, we have this frozen moment to cherish. No matter how much time passes, this picture in our little corner will forever stay the same.

A foggy, Monday morning picture I captured for a project in the seventh grade.

Her past sculpts who she is today, and for that, she is grateful

May 5, 2021

A typical night in the springtime, for me, doesn’t involve friends. I’m not the type to spend every waking hour with people or venture down new paths. That doesn’t suit me. We don’t suit each other....

Demi Lovato's cover for an album more powerful than anything I've ever heard.

Dancing With The Devil…The Art of Starting Over by Demi Lovato possesses a powerful message

April 28, 2021

I still imagine Demi Lovato playing Mitchie Torres on Camp Rock. For a while, Camp Rock was my all-time favorite movie. I loved how fun the music was and imagined that I would, one day, go to a summer...

Basic sunset picture I took of my friend and I the first day in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

I watched the ice melt to water, now I can finally breathe

April 21, 2021

We did it. I did it. It’s over for now, at least.  “The Grudge” has faded. It’s venomous bite left a mark too big to fully recover from and the sting has subdued. Previously, I wrote about...

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was the refreshing roller coaster ride of nostalgia I needed
