FHC Inspires 2023 Q&As: Alexander Dixon

Position: Speaker

Title: “We Are All Leaders”

Why did you apply to be a speaker?

“I applied to inspire people; I mean, a lot of people don’t really know what a leader’s like, and that’s what my topic is about: what traits make up a leader and why you can be a leader. So, I want to teach people why they can be one.”

How are you feeling about speaking at FHC Inspires?

“Originally, I was super nervous about it, but after [practicing], I feel more confident. I feel like I can do it.”

What was the process of perfecting your speech?

“As easy as it sounds, I practiced every day until I got it perfect—like, at least three times.”

What does your message mean to you, and what should it mean to the audience?

“Well, my message basically means that anyone can be a leader as long as [they] have these traits. It basically means the same thing.”

Did you ever see yourself speaking at FHC Inspires?

“At first, no. I really didn’t. I felt like it was for super smart people: people who knew what they were talking about.”

How does your Google slide presentation reflect your topic?

“At first, I wanted to be super bland, showing you didn’t have to have a certain cool slide—you don’t have to be a strong guy to be a leader, but I mean, I want it to look somewhat cool. So, it had to.”

What’s the best time of day and why?

“I’ll have to say nighttime because not only are you alone, but some other people might be alone during that time. So, you could bond them in a way.”

What’s something you can’t live without?

“Well, I’m a teenager, so I have to say my phone. I’m on that every day.”
