Noises Off Q&A: Amanda Riffe
Name: Amanda Riffe
Grade: Senior
Role: Belinda Blair/Flavia
1.) What are you most excited about?
“I am so excited to see the whole play come together. This show has a lot of moving parts and is extremely intricate, so I can’t wait to bring it to life for everyone!”
2.) What makes you fit your role so well?
“Belinda and I are fixers; we try to make peace and fix everything around us. That is a good trait to have, but it is also a very tiring and difficult thing to uphold. We both struggle with the balance between helping others and doing what’s best for us.”
3.) What is your favorite part about being involved in the play?
“I love becoming something new. Getting to reinvent a character each practice and performance is such a gift to me. I love the freedom of creating and exploring new ways to tell a story through a script.”
4.) What should the audience be excited about?
“The audience should come prepared to see something they have never seen before. This show is so original and unique in its set up and concept. Be prepared to laugh!”
5.) What is your favorite part of your role?
“I love how Belinda cares for each person and honestly tries to help others. She is not prideful or rude, but is humble and willing to lend a hand whenever anyone needs it.”
6.) What difference does your character have that you’ve had to work through?
“As the show progresses, our characters do as well. The hardest part for me has been evolving Belinda’s motivations and purposes. I really had to escape my own shell in this show. That often looks like me being really outrageous and bold which is a new thing for me personally.”
7.) Do you think theater has affected your overall high school experience? Why or why not?
“Yes, yes, yes! Theater brings people together in a way that is indescribable. We spend hours upon hours with each other rehearsing and mastering our show. In the process, we become super close, and it really becomes a team. Without us collaborating, the show does not work, so we have to work on building relationships with each other off stage too. The result is always great friendships and great memories.”
8.) Is there anything else you would like to add?
“You seriously do not want to miss this show… It is so well written and an honor to bring to life.”
